How to play Four in a Row
The goal in this game is to be the first to form a line of 4 tokens, horizontally, diagonally, or vertically. Thus the name Four in a Row or Connect Four.
The tokens are red and yellow. The tokens are inserted at the top of the 7x6 standing grid and slide down to the bottom. In this online Four in a Row, you only have to click on the space you want your token to fall in.
The grid follows the laws of gravity, meaning that you need to stack the tokens to reach the upper slots.
Tips and strategies to win at Four in a Row
Block your opponent
While lining up your tokens, make sure your opponent is not close to connecting four of theirs. Whenever you notice that they are missing only one slot to win, block it, even if that blockage comes at the expense of your own strategy. Otherwise, they will win and there will be no point to your strategy to start with.
Never lose track of your opponent
This game is all about strategy. You need to focus as much on lining up your tokens as on blocking your opponent. Never lose sight of their progress. They might be waiting for you to put a token in a slot only to stack theirs on top to connect it to the other three they have lined up.
Grab the middle
Getting the middle slot on the grid and controlling that center column greatly increases your chances of winning.
The middle slot implies that your opponent cannot make a horizontal line on either side, which means they can only hope to win by stacking them. This in turn is much easier to oversee. If you get hold of the column and control it, it will also be much harder for them to go for a diagonal line.
Fork your strategy
Forking your strategy means trying to set your tokens for a line in two different directions. The goal is to get to a point where you can win by placing the final token in either of them. This means that even if your opponent realizes that you are about to win, there is nothing they can do about it. They may block you in one direction but on your next move, you can still win.
